Travellingbie : Week 2 Survival - Hiking Activity at Bukit Shahbandar

I thought I will have one entry per week during the short course in Brunei, but I can't resist to publish this entry. It is one of the interesting activities with a lot of sweats and physical movement involved.

Lamanya tak hiking :-)
This is an accidental hiking activity for me. Originally, i was signed up for the activities and i was excited to join the hiking, but when i re-think it over and over again, i might get exhausted in the class on Monday. So, I've decided not to join the activity. Unfortunately, when the bus came late to bring the participants to the Bukit Shahbandar, I've decided to join the activity. And I think this might be the first and the last hiking at Bukit Shahbandar...:-))
One of Bukit Shahbandar Hills

Some information about Bukit Shahbandar Forest Recreation Park:
This is a 70-hectare stretch of rolling verdant hills designated for hiking, cycling and fishing. An ideal getaway to work up a good sweat, this hilly area is usually crowded with fitness enthusiasts in the evenings. Entrance is free.
The Empire Hotel and Country Club The most magnificent hotel in Brunei, this 6-star establishment features a Jack Nicklaus golf course, a theatre and cinema complex, a selection of restaurants, a range of accommodation choices, a sports complex, water sports facilities and many other world class features.

The trail was easy for those who are fit enough to walk and run and jog and hike the hill. The hiking was easy at the beginning and it become more tougher towards the end for someone who hardly jog nowadays.  Hmmm...I need to jog after this, very very frequent. Most of us, have a slow walk up and down the hill. The view was spectacular and we have our time taking pictures in every hills.
Views from one of the hills

It takes us nearly 2 hours to reach the car park and most of local people are walking faster than us, and yet, we haven't gone to all the hills. hehehe...memang takde stamina langsung-"pancit". I should thank the organizer for bringing us up there and patiently follow our trail though some of us are walking very slow.

"When you ride your bike, you're working your legs, but your mind is on a treadmill. When you play chess, your mind is clicking along, but your body is stagnating. Climbing brings it together in a beautiful, magical way. The adrenaline is flowing, and it's flowing all the time." -- Pat Ament

"It's always further than it looks. It's always taller than it looks. And it's always harder than it looks." -- The 3 rules of mountaineering.

“The longest journey begins with a single step, not with a turn of the ignition key. That's the best thing about a walking, the journey itself. It doesn't much matter whether you get where your going or not. You'll get there anyway. Every good hike brings you eventually back home. Right were you started.”
